Transitions make for losing a piece of ourselves.
On my mat….teetering between breath and no breath…..I realize it is a micro-moment of death twinned with rebirth’s infinite possibilities. Perhaps in transition we lose nothing but instead embody, if only for a moment, everything.

In this time of transition, the space between world ages, 2012 is a watershed year. And within this year, from an astrologer’s perspective, June is the pivotal month.
It’s hard to believe it’s been six months since I prepared my forecast for 2012, and now the big moments are upon us.
The main event began with a mesmerizing annular solar eclipse nearly two weeks ago (May 20). Those who could view the lunar crossing (and the rest of us) are forever changed.
Venus has now entered the underworld, disappearing from the western horizon in the early evening and journeying with the Sun away from our view until her triumphant return as morning star in the east in the pre-dawn hours June 12/13.
The drama continues this weekend with a partial lunar eclipse that forms a mutable grand cross conjunct a mysterious region in deep space known as the Great Attractor.
Then comes the historic Transit of Venus on June 5/6 (depending on your time zone). With Venus, we travel the underworld, transform shamanically and prepare for rebirth.
I’ve been blogging about this sequence for months. Links to relevant posts are listed below.
Sudden, life-changing events
Unexpected opportunities (aka “magic”)
Awakening and realignment
As I watched the shadow of the Moon pass over the face of the Sun on May 20 with a group of loving, creative souls in the Southwest, I had a distinct impression of wiping the slate clean.
Embedded within the current eclipse-Venus series is the possibility of releasing the past, and beginning again. Perhaps more profound is the potential resolution of duality that keeps us shackled in our smallness, separated from our divine source and each other.
Through the 2012 passage, we’re invited to re-vision our lives and begin to re-create the world. The stars are aligned, as they say, to support the shift. It’s a perfect time for ritual and celebration.
Details about the alignments are given in previous posts. Here’s a quick heads-up:
Partial lunar eclipse – June 3/4 (overnight Sunday into Monday morning for most of our readers) with the Uranus-Pluto square within 1 degree
Transit of Venus – June 5/6
Venus’ heliacal rise in the east – June 12/13
Jupiter, Venus, the Moon and the great star Aldebaran in the pre-dawn sky – mid-June
Cancer Solstice – June 20/21
Uranus square Pluto – June 23/24 (first of seven exact squares through 2015) with Uranus and Pluto forming a cardinal T-square with the Sun
Right now we’re in the wobble – a period of shifting electromagnetics related to the alignment of heavenly bodies that can be unsettling, exciting and frightening at the same time. How are you feeling it?
The effects are most intense during the two weeks between eclipses, but this year it’s likely to extend throughout June and into July because of the tense Uranus-Pluto square after the Solstice.
It’s edgy and exciting – also extremely uncomfortable – to tune in energetically with what’s coming. Conceptually, most of us want the kind of radical change these transits signal. Because the process involves a sort of death, actually experiencing such profound transformation can be less than pleasant moment by moment.
Throughout this period, and especially on key alignment dates:
- Be vigilant about your thoughts
- Stay positive and focused
- Open to new opportunities and adventures
- Ritualize your intent
- Allow changes to flow naturally
- Spend time in nature
- Be creative
- Connect with your core being…your essence
- Keep a journal of your thoughts, feelings and impressions
- Open to deeper love
- Hold loved ones, the Earth and all beings in prayer
Journey with Venus, the Sun, Moon and Earth Mother, all the planets, the stars and galaxies. Go deep. Expand. Allow. Breathe with the rhythms of creation.
