(Note from Greg: As someone who has appeared in over 50 or 60 television and film productions, let me explain that choice of hat and scarf being worn by an actor portraying a parent of a Sandy Hook school shooting victim. On every movie set there is a large wardrobe trailer, many times a 53 foot semi tractor trailer, filled with all kinds of clothing to be selected by members of the wardrobe department. Just imagine an attractive young female, an aging gray haired woman and a 35 year old gay male sizing you up for your role and choosing the most cliche and stereotypical clothes you could possibly imagine. (These people are just who you will find working in Hollywood, as no other industry I have ever seen hires more employees, both in front of and behind the camera, based on bigotry, racism, stereotypes and nepotism, and the funniest part about this is its all reflected on the screen.)

Gray haired woman: “Oh you’re playing a detective? Let’s put a trench coat on you and this circa 1972 wool hat like they wore in ‘The French Connection’. Now that’s a detective”, the old woman triumphantly declares. 

Gay wardrobe man: “Your playing the librarian right? White sweater, pearls and eyeglasses! Sailboat captain? Hat with anchor on it. Driving out in the country? Don’t forget your ascot.  French maitre d’?
