This week we have another strong energetic event that further empowers change in the world, the planet Neptune moves into Pisces. All of the generational planets, Pluto, Uranus and Neptune have changed signs now, which lends new purpose and support to the transformation that we, individually and collectively are engaged in. The last time Neptune was in Pisces, in 1848, was also the year spiritualism was born, Darwin’s theories changed the nature of belief, Marx’s work challenged social structure and the California gold rush was born. What has changed in your life since 1998, when Neptune first entered Aquarius? Were any illusions destroyed (that’s what Neptune does) and do you see yourself differently now? What dreams will Neptune support and empower for you now as it enters Pisces, the sign of spirituality?

We are all experiencing a deep need to understand ourselves in new ways while also connecting with each other– as proof of that, Facebook’s user base is estimated to approach 1 billion this year. Entities that promise to reward us in exchange for taking our power are no longer appealing but moving out of that paradigm requires that we know, understand and can share our gifts and talents with others. We all stand for justice and equality and any institution that puts profits before people will get global attention and strong demands for change. We realize that when one suffers, we all suffer.

 

Beginning this month we will be challenged to believe in our dreams and in ourselves strongly enough to make them our reality. January was a month for completion and release as we found our place within the energies of this new and very powerful year. I think the year actually began with the New Moon on January 24 and we all felt the energy downloads of that week, which  encouraged us to release even more of whatever is blocking our path. With the blocks removed we will have a laser sharp insight into what brings us joy. All we have to do is take action.

February’s energy will be less intense in some ways while it demands that we challenge ourselves to grow into our power and empower our reality in new ways. With Mars retrograde until April 14 we can review how we serve the world, as servants or in powerful service that expresses our gifts to their fullest. Power is a theme for this month as we fine tune our use and sources of power. What do we do that makes us feel powerful? Who do we give our power to and how can we take it back? Be prepared for more energy downloads and solar flares but we will integrate them more easily as we find new ways to empower ourselves, our reality and the world. Who do you want to be in your life and how big are you willing to dream is the question for this month. Dream big and have a wonderful month.

These messages bring forth a universal perspective from the many books utilized in the spiritual experience alongside thoughts with spirit. It is my wish that you take in all that in which is true and universal to understand that you possess all that which is beautiful good and true inside already.

Giving away your power to anything else is denying your God given destiny of being created in the image of the Creator.

Universal Service of Light

In speaking to those who followed the Master Jesus most closely he spoke:

In patience have I instructed you all this time. To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to the undiscerning multitudes and to those who seek our destruction, from now on, the mysteries of the kingdom shall be presented in parables. And this we will do so that those who really desire to enter the kingdom may discern the meaning of the teaching and thus find salvation, while those who listen only to ensnare us may be the more confounded in that they will see without seeing and will hear without hearing.

My children, do you not perceive the law of the spirit which decrees that to him who has shall be given so that he shall have an abundance; but from him who has not shall be taken away even that which he has. Therefore will I henceforth speak to the people much in parables to the end that our friends and those who desire to know the truth may find that which they seek, while our enemies and those who love not the truth may hear without understanding. Many of these people follow not in the way of the truth. The prophet did, indeed, describe all such undiscerning souls when he said: ‘For this people’s heart has waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed lest they should discern the truth and understand it in their hearts.’”

In this way Jesus sought to acquaint his followers with many of the reasons underlying his practice of increasingly using parables in his public teaching.

It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Not matter what religion, race, creed, class or color one thing is for certain, we are all God's children in this great big family in the universe and on earth.

We need not another to tell us what we already have, we are simply already in possession of it just sometimes in forgetful states.

It is only when we think we know better than our all loving God and bring forth judgment and limit that with is infinite do we shut up the ways to the kingdom which is in us all.

The Urantia Book; Paper 173, Section 5

After the scribes and rulers had withdrawn, Jesus addressed himself again to the assembled crowd and spoke the parable of the wedding feast. He said:

"The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a certain king who made a marriage feast for his son and dispatched messengers to call those who had previously been invited to the feast to come, saying, `Everything is ready for the marriage supper at the king's palace.' Now, many of those who had once promised to attend, at this time refused to come. When the king heard of these rejections of his invitation, he sent other servants and messengers, saying: `Tell all those who were bidden, to come, for, behold, my dinner is ready. My oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all is in readiness for the celebration of the forthcoming marriage of my son.' But again did the thoughtless make light of this call of their king, and they went their ways, one to the farm, another to the pottery, and others to their merchandise. Still others were not content thus to slight the king's call, but in open rebellion they laid hands on the king's messengers and shamefully mistreated them, even killing some of them. And when the king perceived that his chosen guests, even those who had accepted his preliminary invitation and had promised to attend the wedding feast, had finally rejected his call and in rebellion had assaulted and slain his chosen messengers, he was exceedingly wroth. And then this insulted king ordered out his armies and the armies of his allies and instructed them to destroy these rebellious murderers and to burn down their city.

"And when he had punished those who spurned his invitation, he appointed yet another day for the wedding feast and said to his messengers: `They who were first bidden to the wedding were not worthy; so go now into the parting of the ways and into the highways and even beyond the borders of the city, and as many as you shall find, bid even these strangers to come in and attend this wedding feast.' And then these servants went out into the highways and the out-of-the-way places, and they gathered together as many as they found, good and bad, rich and poor, so that at last the wedding chamber was filled with willing guests. When all was ready, the king came in to view his guests, and much to his surprise he saw there a man without a wedding garment. The king , since he had freely provided wedding garments for all his guests, addressing this man, said: `Friend, how is it that you come into my guest chamber on this occasion without a wedding garment?' And this unprepared man was speechless. Then said the king to his servants: `Cast out this thoughtless guest from my house to share the lot of all the others who have spurned my hospitality and rejected my call. I will have none here except those who delight to accept my invitation, and who do me the honor to wear those guest garments so freely provided for all.'"

Values of the Parable:

The parable provides for a simultaneous appeal to vastly different levels of mind and spirit. The parable stimulates the imagination, challenges the discrimination, and provokes critical thinking; it promotes sympathy without arousing antagonism.

The parable proceeds from the things which are known to the discernment of the unknown. The parable utilizes the material and natural as a means of introducing the spiritual and the supermaterial.

Parables favor the making of impartial moral decisions. The parable evades much prejudice and puts new truth gracefully into the mind and does all this with the arousal of a minimum of the self-defense of personal resentment.

To reject the truth contained in parabolical analogy requires conscious intellectual action which is directly in contempt of one’s honest judgment and fair decision. The parable conduces to the forcing of thought through the sense of hearing.

The use of the parable form of teaching enables the teacher to present new and even startling truths while at the same time he largely avoids all controversy and outward clashing with tradition and established authority.

The parable also possesses the advantage of stimulating the memory of the truth taught when the same familiar scenes are subsequently encountered.

Change is always going to happen. Some changes we have no control over, some we do. Change is not always easy. It takes wisdom, courage, and motivation to change.

WISDOM AND VALUES

We need wisdom to know what we should and can change. To figure out what we should change, we need to understand our values.

Values describe what life means to us, what is important to us. They influence our motivation. We move toward the things that we value and away from things we don’t. For example, if a man or woman values money highly, he/she will make decisions and take action toward things that make money. He or she will be motivated to make money. If a someone dreams of and values a certain house in a certain neighbourhood, they will make choices and take steps to get that house. They are motivated to get that particular house. If a person values relationships highly, they will make choices and do things that maintain those relationships. They will be motivated to keep relationships.

Some people become disconnected from their values. When that happens, they lose their motivation and end up sitting in front of the TV for hours, flipping through the channels. It’s as if they’ve lost their purpose for living.

MOTIVATION

Another thing we must have to change is motivation. Motivation is simply described as being ready, willing, and able.

‘WILLING’

When we first think about changing something we put the idea on a scale. On one side of the scale is what we have now, and on the other is what we could have—or what we want. For us to be willing to change, the scale has to be tipped toward the “what we want” side – or toward the future. The scale tips back and forth while we figure out if the change is going to be worth all the effort it will take. Sometimes the change we want might be in conflict with other things we value. For example, we have already learned that to achieve we must give up some relationships, at least for a time. So … if we want to go back to school (because we value education), the scale may tip back and forth between going to school and our desire to be with our friends.

The key to being willing is the size of the gap between what we have now and what we might have – the difference between what is and what could be. The bigger the difference, the more willing we will be to change.

Putting this in the casual register (context), one guy said, “Life is a s --- sandwich, and every day is another bite.” This guy may not like s --- sandwiches, but he seems willing to eat one every day. If he was to recall what a bowl of cherries tasted like, he might decide to make some changes so that he could eat more cherries and less s---. The gap between what he has now and what he might have could help him become willing to change.

‘ABLE’

To be able to change, we must feel confident that we can do what it takes, that we know the steps, and that we can imagine ourselves moving ahead. We have to think positively and be determined. When we want to change (when we’re willing) but can’t see a way to do it, we often shift back into thinking that we are fated, then slip into living for the moment again and so lose our motivation.

‘READY’

To be ready, we have to move beyond the “I’ll do it tomorrow” and the “yes, but” phase. This requires that we overcome our fear of failure and our fear of success and push through toward what we want.

It is said that motivation is a simple mental strategy that we can learn to use ourselves. It has been pointed out from many motivational speakers and teachers that we are always motivated for something. In fact, sometimes we are too motivated. Some of us are too motivated for chocolate, sex, shopping, and God knows what else. In that case, we have to learn some anti-motivation strategies, which includes self-control and impulse control.

But what happens when we see that big difference between what we have now and what we could have? What happens when the things we value seem out of reach? What do we need to get motivated?

There are two basic thinking strategies about motivation. Those who “move toward” what they want and those who “move away from” what they don’t want.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ‘MOVING TOWARD’ THINKERS
 

Jump out of bed in the morning, ready to go!
Plan ahead for things they want to do, such as meet friends, go fishing, etc.
Pick friends who keep them going, who interest them.
Take advantage of opportunities when they arise

PROS OF BEING ‘MOVING TOWARD’ THINKERS
 

Goal-oriented
Get things done
Get the jobs because they match what most employers are looking for.

CONS OF BEING ‘MOVING TOWARD’ THINKERS
 

Don’t think through the problems carefully enough
Rush into things, putting the “pedal to the metal.”
Have to learn things the hard way

CHARACTERISTICS OF ‘AWAY FROM’ THINKERS
 

Lie in bed until the threats of what will happen from not doing anything become too great
Wait to change things until it really gets uncomfortable
Pick friends who don’t interest them
Wait to change jobs until they just can’t stand their job another minute

PROS OF BEING ‘AWAY FROM’ THINKERS
 

Careful about getting into things
Remember that bad times to stay motivated
Good at identifying and fixing problems

CONS OF BEING ‘AWAY FROM’ THINKERS
 

Afraid to try things
Get too involved in problems
When the pain and pressure to change are off, so is the motivation
Motivation comes and goes with the internal pressures and threats
Less attention is given to where they’ll end up when they’re looking back at the problem instead of looking ahead.
Much higher stress, risk of health problems.

It is best we learn to use both motivational strategies with an emphasis on the “moving toward” strategy. We can do this by monitoring our motivational strategies and practicing new ways of thinking and acting.

* This is one of the many discussions, teaching and learning that took place in the woman's group I was fortunuate to be a part of. I AM definately a 'Moving Toward' thinker but every now and again I do need a hug that is received from any one of my many guides that are always near.
