The body of a perfectly preserved, carefully mummified an alien was found buried in an ancient pyramid. Hello friends. Welcome to 2013 – the Year of the Water Snake. After talking to a few people who have expressed some concerns, I decided to explore the topic of healing and balance. For many, 2012 was a difficult, even traumatic year. There were also many people that transitioned in 2012, and some of these were young people, or others who death came at a great shock. There have also been losses of other kinds due to economics, unemployment, natural disasters and other issues. The challenge for many of us is to stay *present* and not to get lost in energies of thoughts of the past while still being open to the truth of what we are feeling, as denial is not conducive to healing.

I see the “Snake Medicine” that 2013 brings can be of great benefit to us. On the high side of this energy it is all about healing, magic, higher consciousness and transformation. Brave, because courage is what it will take to face some of the challenges; new, because feeling rather than mind will now take the leadership role for our society and our planet.

We have reached the end of the road where the old ways and the old resources are concerned. So now, we use our inner resourcefulness to create the new and adapt, just as many generations have before us learnt to adapt.

The change we are facing is of a mastery level.

We as human beings have, in our cellular memory, all of the shifts that humanity has been through before programmed into our bodies. But never before has the playing field been so wide.

This is thrilling and sometimes intimidating.

How many times have you had a hunch about something, then discounted it and continued on with your choice? Everyone has done this, of course, mainly because conventional norms do not place intuition in its proper place of high regard.   

Long ago, though, the ancient peoples valued hunches and other intuitive wisdom. It was a normal part of life to listen to one’s body and to pay attention to subtle messages coming from outside the body, too. Wisdom keepers of diverse traditions tell us of a time when people valued all life, understanding that every living thing could be a vast resource of knowledge.  

The ancient ones knew that all of life was connected and that they could tune into this connection. It was common to talk to the trees and the water. The people learned to actively watch and listen to nature. They saw themselves as part of sacred nature, too, so knew to see their own bodies as sacred as well.
