(Holland doc) In 1978 a group of idealistic young people buy in London an old fishing boat. They baptized him and Rainbow Warrior to battle against whaling and nuclear tests. Until the French secret service bombed the ship in 1985 resulting in one death. Crew of six old friends are now parents on the island of Waiheke. They make the balance with some melancholy in this documentary about state terrorism, idealism, effectiveness and romance of campaigning.
The Rainbow Warriors of Waiheke Island at IDFA 2009 was nominated for the Dutch IDFA Documentary Award for 'Best Dutch Documentary and finished in the top 5 of the audience favorites.
