2011 03 13 11 04 32 838 300x225 Modern Yoga for Greater Clarity and Life PurposeGood Morning!

Interesting… This morning as I stood on the street corner in West Hollywood, drinking my morning coffee and observing the city wake up, a car drove by with a young lady reading a list at the wheel. She didn’t see me as she turned the corner, her attention on the list and the interior lit by the dome light… I wondered what she was doing and why the passenger window was open. I got my answer as she slowed down in front of a house and something flew out the window…

When I was a kid, I had a paper route. Every day for many years (I have forgotten how many, but it seems like at least 4 or 5), I tramped through rain, snow, bitterly cold temperatures, beautiful sunrises and crisp energy to deliver some hundred papers to customers on my route. I was eleven or twelve, perhaps when I started, I think. I got paid by the customers, going door-to-door 2x a month to “collect&; and I paid the guy who dropped the papers off at two locations on my route in big bundles that I transferred into my shoulder bag… Now for those of you who did this too, you will remember that we also carried that bag, when it was too heavy and awkward for the shoulder, by placing the strap on our foreheads with the bag draped over our backs. I know, right! Old school… and, yes, icon biggrin Modern Yoga for Greater Clarity and Life Purpose , I am dating myself…

Things were simpler back then and not just because I was a strapping young lad, growing up in Northern Alberta. There were no , in fact, I remember the rotary dial hanging on the kitchen wall with the long, twisted up cord that always got tangled in something, no WWW, no , text messaging and video games consisted of a line on a screen and a ball that bounced… I played outside and rode bikes without a helmet… It was simpler.

Well, you ask… What are you getting at Marc?

With all the advancements in our experience, technological and otherwise to make our lives “better”, we seem to have lost something. However you got to this place where you are right now, it is an incredibly complex!!! Ironic, isn’t it, as supposedly all the advancements were supposed to make our lives easier. Maybe at first they did, yet somewhere along the way, most of us lost the deep connection to a simpler time. I laughed a while ago when talking with a young man of 8 or 9 when he said to me, “what do you mean you didn’t have internet?” Well, he may never know what a simpler life is…

I know that I got wrapped up in the growth and lost my way… fell for the hype and promise that marketers wanted me to believe. I was a consumer and a worker, caught up in the matrix of a society that is bent on continued technological advancement. It would have killed me, at an early age had I not found a way out. And now, I can see the blessing and conundrum of our current state of affairs. I am grateful for all the advances! Just this morning, I was chatting with someone from the and a few days ago was able to support a friend in crisis all day long through text and Instant Messaging.

But, getting here has taken its toll… and for many a yearning for simpler times is screaming to be heard.

Yoga is one answer that will resonate for many and as a yogi, I am finding these ancient practices adapted to our current times can be very helpful in bringing and purpose back into ones life. Today, we are constantly bombarded with stimulus… 24/7, it never stops! Until we choose to stop it. That is what modern yoga can bring to you now, stillness amidst the chaos…

And from that stillness, comes all things. Greater health, wealth and prosperity. Better relationships. Clearer vision and enhanced creativity. Solutions and answers to your life questions. All these and more are available to you when you can shut out the din of the world around you and listen to the soft whisper of your inner voice. Much will improve very rapidly when you adopt a practice that brings you to stillness.

It did for me and for that I am grateful! Stay tuned loyal readers! There is much, much more on the way as the stillness guides me towards my destiny.

It will for you, too. Blessings on your Journey!
